Winner’s Circle in North Carolina
The initial development and planning of the Winner’s Circle program began in 1998. By 2000, Winner’s Circle was being piloted by a restaurant in Pitt County, NC. Since that time program local coordinators have helped recruit venues and expand Winner’s Circle statewide. Venues now include local restaurants, convenience stores, schools, recreation facilities, hospitals, vending machines, worksites, and chain restaurants. Of the 100 counties in NC, 87 now offer a Winner’s Circle community venue; and McDonald’s Owners & Operators of NC is a statewide participant.
The North Carolina Winner’s Circle program is coordinated through NC Prevention Partners and supports Eat Smart, Move More…North Carolina, a statewide initiative that promotes increased opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating through policy and environmental change.
