Program of

Winner’s Circle in NC Schools

In 2001, the Winner’s Circle program was introduced in NC Schools in an effort to improve the food offerings on school campuses, promote healthy eating behavior among NC youth, and support other state and national school nutrition standards. Promoting healthy foods and healthy eating behaviors among NC youths helps support positive lifelong health behaviors and helps youth develop into healthy adults.

Currently, the NC Winner’s Circle in Schools program is coordinated through the NC Division of Public Health’s Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch and provides direct assistance to school partners implementing the program at the school level. Over 80 North Carolina Local Education Areas, encompassing more than 1,600 schools, are now participating in the Winner’s Circle program. To learn more about NC Winner’s Circle in Schools, please visit the NC Winner’s Circle in Schools webpage.

The NC Winner’s Circle in Schools program supports Eat Smart, Move More…North Carolina, a statewide initiative that promotes increased opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating through policy and environmental change. To find out who is leading the Winner’s Circle efforts in your local schools, please visit the Eat Smart, Move More…North Carolina contact directory.
